DT Swiss invented the Star Ratchet freehub mechanism and has been the global reference for hand-built wheel components ever since. Their 350, 240 and 180 hub lines cover every price point without sacrificing field-serviceability — and their spokes are what every serious wheel builder defaults to. When in doubt, DT Swiss is the answer.
Hope machines every hub in-house at their Lancashire factory. Their Pro 4 and Pro 5 hubs are among the most bombproof on the market — 72-point, 6-pawl engagement, available in six anodised colours. Pair them with Hope Fortus rims and you've got a wheelset that will outlast most bikes it's fitted to. Everything is serviceable, everything is available, everything is Made in Britain.
Industry Nine's Torch Classic delivers 120-point engagement — near-instant pickup that you can actually hear. Their Hydra hub pushes that to a staggering 690 points and 0.52° of pickup. Every hub is CNC-machined in Asheville, NC, and available in seven anodised colour options. Their TRA and TRD rims are machined from 6069-T6 aluminium and are stiffer than most carbon options at a fraction of the cost.
Stan's popularised tubeless mountain biking and their rims remain the benchmark for tubeless-specific design. The Flow EX3 and Flow S2 are two of the most trusted enduro and trail rims on the market — wide, light, and engineered specifically for tubeless setups.
